social

  • don’t play video/audio out loud in public
  • use people’s names when you talk to them, even online
  • state the request in the first message if asking for a favor; skip the fluff
  • there is always someone else who can provide the service you do so if your plate is full, don’t feel bad for saying no to someone’s request
  • when planning a hang, pick a time that works for YOU and then broadcast it. trying to accommodate everyone is just too complex and discouraging.

shopping

  • never buy a class package of anything, you will not use them

books

  • classics must be on bright paper with large enough margins to write in
  • cannot have the shitty paper that mechanical pencil lead gets caught in

clothes

  • will never fit right: built-in bras, stitching to indicate where the bust is, button-up dresses
  • won’t look nice on me: drop shoulder, empire waist

internet/tech

  • ~~leave/mark messages unread if you can’t respond just yet~~
    • 2026: i’ve gotten over this.
  • unsubscribe to useless marketing newsletters right away
    • generally: do the small inconvenient thing to save on mental friction and phantom obligation in the long run
  • LIKE PEOPLE’S POSTS/REPLIES before replying to them. it’s polite… simple etiquette…
